TAMIL NADU STATE ILLNESS ASSISTANCE SOCIETY

The Tamil Nadu State Illness Assistance Society is a shared scheme in the ratio of 2:1 and was established in the year 1998 to render Financial Assistance to a maximum of Rs.25000/- to the below poverty people of Tamil Nadu with an annual income upto Rs.72000/- P.A. Who had undergone specified life saving surgeries / treatment at the accredited private hospitals. The Society is functioning under the Chairmanship of Ex-Officio Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department Chennai 9 and Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Chennai is the Ex officio Member Secretary 14 Government Medical college hospitals have been coverred under Illness Society and revolving funds have been fixed for purchase of consumables for performance of surgeries / treatment. Revolving fund has also been fixed to the District Collectors and powers have been delegated to the District Collector for sanction of financial assistance according to the nature of surgery, after scrutiny.
